WW1 U-Boat Raising

In August 2008, Trinity House relocated the World War I German submarine UB-38 from the Dover Strait seabed to a deeper site two miles away. The wreck was moved from a depth of 77 feet (23.5m) to 131 feet (40m) because modern, deep-draft ships risked striking the hull in the busy shipping lane. The outcome of the exercise was the main hull and the stern section (that became detached during the lift) were relocated into deeper water. One wonders if this technology is possible with the raising of the Australian WW1 sub the AE2 in the sea of Marmara Turkey. The AE2 was a major contributing factor in the Gallipoli campaign.
